Captains Day 2025

What a fantastic day we had on the first sunny Sunday in June! Captains Linda and Phil kicked off our mixed team match, welcoming over 40 participants. The traditional ‘spider’ followed, setting a fun tone for the afternoon. Many guests and spectators arrived a little later to watch and join in the fun.

It was a nail-biter of a game, with both teams playing brilliantly, and we ended up with a well-deserved draw!

The bowling was followed by a delicious hog roast, and then the real fun began off the green! We had a quick game of ‘Pay Your Cards Right’ before drawing the Grand Raffle, which received incredible support from the Swanage community. An auction of some wonderful artistic works rounded off our fundraising efforts, raising an impressive £738 for the RNLI!

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and contributed!

Friendly v Fleming Park 11/5/25

Friendly played in extremely good spirits on a sunny Sunday. Many of our opponents had stayed or were staying in Swanage and area before and after the match. Interesting that bowling was helping to stimulate our local economy.
Fleming Park triumphed 111-93. All Swanage team members were presented with a Fleming Club badge before starting. Hope to see them again.

DEFIBRILLATOR

Swanage Community Defibrillator Partnership was formed 10 years ago with the aim of placing 4 public access defibrillators in Swanage, maintaining them and ensuring people knew how to use them.

Today there are almost 50 across Purbeck. Each one is registered with The British Heart Foundation and checked and cleaned by Guardians every 2 weeks. We are proud to say a defibrillator is sited at the entrance to the Club’s green.

Yesterday the guardians enjoyed a cream tea on the veranda of the Bowls Club as a thank you for their ongoing work to ensure the defibrillators are registered as Rescue Ready for the ambulance service to deploy to the public.

On Tuesday 13th May after the internal Triples Games, Mary Buck will bring the training kit to the club and demonstrate how to access and use the machine. This will take 30-45 minutes.
